Get To Know About Us

HOLA was proudly founded by a  Canadian-Colombian family  whose passion for the Spanish     heritage and education remains the core of the academy today.

The name HOLA is more than a greeting; it represents our core philosophy of Hispanic Open Learning Academy (HOLA). By moving away from traditional education methods into a fresh and modern approach to language learning.

The journey began with an extra-curricular language program at a Public School, HOLA has rapidly evolve into a successful academy with eight facilities., including our Toronto Headquarters and our new Wthby location.

HOLA’s mission is to immerse each student fully in the Spanish language and culture by engaging the five senses during classes.

Hola offers diverse programs designed by a Curriculum Specialist
and delivered by a team of Certified and Native Teachers.
By integrating sensory activities and interactive participation, we ensure that every student develops the ability to speak Spanish with confidence, ease, and authenticity.

Mission

To create a joyful and open learning environment that shares the Spanish Culture through language, play and community.

Vision

To spread the beautiful Language of Spanish to the World.

Goals

Keep students excited about learning Spanish, even after they leave the class, by showing them how fun and useful it’s in the real world.

Contribute and give back to the community. Part of the enrolment fee is donated and used to fund scholarships to students in need.

Values

Interactive classes: Having fun as well as engaging the 5 senses

Cultural Immersion: Learning about Latin@s's traditons and arts

Community engagement: Encouraging/supporting one another

Friendship and family: Bulding strong relationships

Giving back: Providing assistance to students in need

We combine experiential learning with the arts, music, movement, drama, and storytelling. By connecting language to emotion, creativity, and human interaction, students build understanding, confidence, and fluency that lasts.

Speak

Express ideas, connect with others, and communicate confidently in real conversations.

Spanish isn’t just vocabulary and grammar—it’s a tool for connecting with the world. At HOLA, we prioritize Speaking and  having authentic communication from day one.

How we do it:

  • Real conversations, not repetitive drills: Our classes focus on natural dialogues about topics relevant to each student’s life
  • Learning without fear of mistakes: We create safe spaces where making errors is part of the process, not an obstacle
  • Constant interaction: Students interact with native instructors and each other, practicing pronunciation, intonation, and fluency in meaningful contexts
  • Communicative projects: From presentations to dramatizations, students use Spanish to express their own ideas, not just repeat phrases

The result: Students who don’t just “know Spanish” but who dare to speak it confidently in real situations.

See

Visual storytelling through art, movement, and culture brings Spanish to life.

Spanish comes alive when students see the language in action—not just in a book, but in images, gestures, art, and culture.

How we do it:

  • Integrated visual art: We use drawing, painting, and visual projects so students associate vocabulary with memorable images
  • Visual storytelling: We tell stories using flashcards, videos, shadow theater, and other visual resources that activate imagination
  • Visible culture: We explore Latin American traditions, celebrations, geography, and customs through photographs, maps, and authentic materials
  • Body language and gestures: We teach how Spanish speakers use facial expressions and gestures to communicate, enriching cultural understanding

The result: Students see Spanish as a living language, connected to rich and diverse cultures, not just as an abstract code.

Hear

Natural rhythm and real conversation spanish as it's truly spoken.

The ear is the gateway to language. At HOLA, we expose students to authentic Spanish as it’s spoken in everyday life.

How we do it:

  • Native instructors: All our teachers are native Spanish speakers who model natural pronunciation, intonation, and rhythm
  • Music and songs: We integrate Latin music—from rancheras to reggaeton—so students listen to and reproduce Spanish sounds, rhythms, and patterns
  • Sound immersion: Classes are conducted predominantly in Spanish, creating an environment where the ear naturally adjusts
  • Variety of accents: We expose students to different accents from the Spanish-speaking world (Mexican, Colombian, Argentine, etc.) to develop versatile comprehension

The result: Students who develop a trained ear, capable of understanding real Spanish—not just simplified textbook versions.

Move/Touch

Physical learning and gesture anchor meaning, support memory, and build confidence.

he body is a powerful ally in learning. Movement doesn’t just make classes more dynamic—it anchors knowledge more deeply.

How we do it:

  • Total Physical Response (TPR): We use physical commands and body actions so students associate words with movements, facilitating retention.
  • Hands-on cultural preparations: During special occasions, we prepare traditional finger food… and make the best cafe in the word or just agua fresca with limon.
  • Dramatizations and role-play: Students act out everyday situations (going shopping, ordering at a restaurant) using their whole body to bring the language to life
  • Songs with movement: Dances, rounds, and rhythmic activities combine music with physical coordination to express the joy of learning..

The result: Spanish becomes a bodily experience, not just a mental one, which improves memory and reduces speaking anxiety..

Feel

Supportive learning communities foster empathy, friendships, and lasting connection.

Language is, above all, human connection. At HOLA, we build learning communities where students feel safe, valued, and motivated.

How we do it:

  • Sensory immersion: The classroom comes alive with the rich aromas, warmth atmosphere & shared culinary experiences that connect students to Hispanic culture.
  • Authentic relationships: Instructors don’t just teach—they build genuine bonds with each student, knowing their interests, goals, values and challenges.
  • Celebration of diversity: We create spaces where different ages, backgrounds, and skill levels learn from one another. We celebrate birthdays & achievements together.
  • Community beyond the classroom: We organize cultural events, immersion trips, Speaking Masterclasses and social activities that reinforce friendships and belonging.

The result: Students don’t just learn Spanish—they feel an emotional connection to the language, culture, and people around them, which fuels long-term motivation.
